A smile speaks it's own language ...
Few of us have naturally perfect teeth, but with the help of orthodontic treatment, whether through cosmetic braces, Invisalign aligner or invisible lingual braces, you can have a beautiful smile you can be proud of. A beautiful smile radiates confidence and projects a positive image. It is an important part of looking and feeling great.
We do not stop at teeth straightening, but go one step further and ensure that treatment plan looks at the whole of your face, your profile, bone tissue and lip and muscular structure. It is a higher level of care, in which we guide your teeth to a new position enhancing facial harmony.
It's never to late!
Early Treatment
Many times severe orthodontic problems can be corrected or decreased by treatment at a young age. Problems associated with skeletal imbalances, impacted teeth and missing permanent teeth are often easier to correct at a young age, when the patient is growing.
Adult Treatment
Teeth can be moved at any age. Our adult patients range in age from eighteen to eighty. It’s never too late to beautify your smile and improve overall dental health. As people age, teeth tend to become more misaligned making cleaning more difficult. Aligning the teeth not only improves the look of the smile but also makes it easier to clean the teeth, and cleaner teeth means healthier gums and teeth.
Your first visit:
The first visit to our office is designed to give you information. Dr. Helen Torkashvand will assess your situation and discuss whether you need orthodontics to improve your smile.
Cost of treatment
This is dependent on the type of treatment required. Each patient is assessed individually and you will be given a costing at the consultation, depending on the kind of treatment you require. We are willing to set up flexible payment plans.
Treatment options
Fixed braces
Individual brackets are stuck directly to the teeth and connected by flexible wires which are tightened at regular intervals.
If a fixed brace is recommended, you may be able to choose between ceramic(tooth-coloured) or metal brackets. Tooth coloured appliances are much more aesthetic, and are most often used for adults.
We also use lingual fixed appliances
This is where the attachments are placed on the inner surface of your teeth, inside the mouth where they cannot be seen. Problems like crooked teeth, spaces between the teeth or teeth that stick out can be corrected. Although lingual braces are more expensive they offer a highly cosmetic alternative to those patients who otherwise would not consider treatment.
Removable braces
Can obviously be removed, but they must be worn full-time, apart from when they have to be cleaned. Removable braces are good for correcting simple problems.
Functional braces
Worn on the upper and lower teeth at the same time. By connecting the two removable braces, the power of the jaw muscles is applied to move the teeth in tandem and to make sure that the teeth bite properly. They are used to correct the growth pattern of the jaws.
Invisalign
Consider Invisalign to get the beautiful straight teeth you’ve always wanted — without braces. A complimentary consultation with Dr. Torkashvand can determine if Invisalign is right for you. Invisalign uses a series of invisible and removable aligners that no one can tell you’re wearing. So you can smile more during treatment as well as after. Invisalign is made with 3-D computer imaging technology, and has been proven effective.
Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, and brushing and flossing are no problem. They are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. Invisalign also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start, so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
You wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to the final position Dr. Torkashvand has prescribed. You’ll visit us about once every six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time will vary from case to case.
